The last two weeks were fully dedicated to finally explore India outside of Pune. Over the long Easter weekend, some of us decided to leave work and the crowded city of Pune behind and instead relax at one of the beautiful beaches in Goa. On Thursday evening, we took the sleeper bus from Pune to Mapusa, which was surprisingly comfortable. Two of us each shared a cabin, but they were actually quite spacious so the ten-hour trip wasn’t all that bad. Early Friday morning, we finally reached Mapusa, and after another 45-minute cab drive we finally arrived at our beachside shacks at the ResidenSea in Arambol Beach. We quickly stored away our luggage, and off we were to the beach! I have never seen an ocean before where you could just dive straight into the water at 8 AM in the morning without freezing to death, but in Goa that was exactly what we did every morning in lieu of a morning shower 😀 We spent our first day roaming around Arambol, “being Dolphins” in the ocean, drinking cocktails and later watching the sun set over the ocean from a small hill nearby. On Saturday, we explored Goa even further on our rented scooters. After some small difficulties at the beginning, everyone was safely sitting on their own scooter or on the back of someone elses’s, abd we took off to drive down further south to Candolim Beach, Fort Aguada, and last but not least dinner at the Mango Tree in Vagator. Sunday was again left for relaxing and enjoying the last few hours of sitting by the ocean in the sun, before we went back to Pune in the evening. Monday morning at 6 PM our sleeper bus dropped us off in Pune again, and for most of us that meant only a few hours of sleeping in our own beds before we had to go back to work. Now we were really thankful for the comfort of the sleeper bus!
This weekend, we went on our first Crest-organized daytrip to Mahabaleshwar, a hill station here in Maharashtra. Mahabaleshwar is known for the great view from the hill station and the strawberry fields all around, so after walking around Arthur’s Seat and taking in the breathtaking views for a while, we had some strawberry wine to go with our lunch at the Grapevine Restaurant and later went to Mapro Gardens, the Mapro factory outlet. Mapro sells all kinds of strawberry and fruit products, from juices to syrups to sweets, so Mapro Gardens is definitely worth a visit if you have a sweet tooth like me 😉
